Here are some recent letters. Please note: Only
signed letters will be considered for publication.
SETTLE A BET
My husband and I have a bet. What is the famous line - "sometime,
somewhere, don't be surprised"...or, "don't be surprised if sometime, somewhere…"
Please let me know the line from beginning to end.
Marie E. Hensley
[Peter's reply: Don't be surprised if sometime, somewhere,
someplace when you least expect it, someone steps up to you and says, smile! You're
on Candid Camera!]
ALLEN'S SALUTE
The tribute was wonderful. Mr. Funt knew what laughter was all about.
When the cafe segment was run I was hoping to see my favorite of all time. I remember
it as though it happened yesterday. There were men sitting next to one another,
and one man would dig into a piece of grapefruit and it was rigged to squirt into
the face of the other man.
As many letter writers stated, they were so pleased when Candid
Camera began to air again. It is one show that I wouldn't miss for the world.
One cannot help but really "belly" laugh at the stunts that are pulled. It is
a wonderful stress-buster at the end of the week. Keep up the excellent work with
the program.
Jan, from Jackson, Michigan
THROUGH THE YEARS
Peter, may God bless you and your Father for all the humor the Candid
Camera show has given to us through the years.

MISSED OUT
My local affiliate was going to run the hour special Friday, but
they made a last minute decision and ran something local in its place. They did
promise a tape delay, but ultra-late (1:30-2:30 a.m.). I want another chance to
see it.
David Johnson
[Peter's reply: We hate it when that happens! Please let
your local station know how you feel. I'm sure CBS will repeat the show, but we
don't know when.]
IN STYLE
Loved the tribute to Allen Funt...genius never goes out of style!
Kim Wolf, West Milton, Ohio
DOROTHY COLLINS LINK
I discovered that the late Dorothy Collins was my 2nd cousin. (My
grandfather's, brother's daughter) I understand that she used to do some of the
shows with Allen Funt. I'm a little interested in finding out more about her role
in the program. I missed the Show last Friday night unfortunately, but if there
is anything you can tell me I would appreciate it.
Phil Chandler
[Peter's reply: Dorothy worked with my father in the 1960's.
He called her The Sweetheart of Candid Camera. He also called her Crash Collins
because she did so many wonderful automobile gags - although she wasn't much of
a driver in real life. I had the pleasure to work with her several times when
I was in my teens. Most memorable: The Car Without a Motor. I was sitting in the
passenger seat operating the tape recorder as she rolled the car into service
stations and asked the attendants to check under the hood.]
SMILE SONG
On the tribute to Mr. Funt you had a song that played at the end.
I would like to know who sang the song and what the title is. By the way, that
show was the funniest one I had ever seen. I laughed so hard. Thank you for making
me laugh and smile!
Alicia
[Peter's reply: We all love that song: "Smile." It's sung
by the late Nat King Cole, and it was written by silent-movie great Charlie Chaplain.]
AUTOGRAPHS & PHOTOS
I have watched your shows for years and still keep laughing at them.
Your dad was the best, we need more people on TV like you to be able to have some
fun and not seeing all the violence we see on television today. Keep up the good
work, Peter. Would it be possible to receive an autograph photo of Suzanne Somers
and Peter Funt?
Lynda Graf, Michigan
[Peter's reply: Suzanne and I feel badly that we can't
honor requests for autographs and photos. We simply get too many. We hope you
understand.]
VIOLENCE-FREE
I just wanted to let you all know that I've been watching Candid
Camera as long as I can remember. I feel there should be more shows like yours
out there instead of all this violence on television. There is nothing better
than a good laugh!
