FEEDBACK ARCHIVE

About our September 24 program, television critic David Bianculli wrote in the New York Daily News:

"Here's one worth taping. This season premiere devotes its last lengthy segment to the memory of the entire franchise: Allen Funt, whose life and death this month at age 84 is remembered by his son Peter, who took over hosting chores years ago. Stills, a movie montage and a few well-chosen segments from the show's history (which spans half a century) are included, and presented quite touchingly."

And, as soon as the show went off the air we began receiving feedback from viewers:

•   "I saw the last segment of your show Friday night. I can't believe how moving it was. Your dad had a great idea back then and it showed how he loved what he did…"—Dave Pratchenko

•   "The tribute to your father on the show tonight was wonderful and beautifully done. Peter, thank you for continuing in your father's footsteps."—Lil Pfeifer, New Kensington, Pa.

•   "I do not watch much television other than news but your show is truly the exception. I enjoyed the variety of clips featuring your dad and the Camp Scene [fancy amenities for campers in Massachusetts]. Thanks for making life so enjoyable."—Robert Aronheim, Oakton, Virginia

•   "I saw your show tonight and cried like a baby."—Barry Broth

•   "What would really be fitting would be an hour special in Allen Funt's memory. So many of us will never forget the laughter he brought us."—Ron Hade, Winfield, N.J.

•   "Thank you for that wonderful tribute to Allen Funt. He had a way with people that I admired. He treated them with kindness and respect, while at the same time giving them a chance to laugh at themselves."—Rev. Cliff Munger

•   "I love your show. I was wondering about the song about 'smiling' used to honor Allen Funt."—Scott Alan Blanchard [The song, "Smile," was sung by the late Nat King Cole, and was written by film great Charlie Chaplin.]

•   "Tonight, I laughed and cried. It is so nice to still have shows like Candid Camera to give us some joy."—Viewer in Key West, Florida

•   "I grew up watching the original Candid Camera show and Allen provided me with a lot of laughs. I was so excited a few years ago to see it make a comeback. My 19-year-old daughter even thought it was neat."—Leslie Canfield

•   "Thank you, Allen, for all the laughter. It made us all happier and prolonged our lives. We love you and will miss you."—Marilyn Bozeman, Chicago
